2012.06.25-27 At the Institute of Oriental Studies was held the international conference "Studying Islam, studying each other Western and Soviet discourses on Islam in Central Asia and the Caucasus."

2012.06.18-19 At the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences took place a meeting of the Russian-Turkish-American workshop "Turkey, Russia, Iran, U.S. policy and security." In discussions on a wide range of issues took part prominent experts from Turkey, Russia and the United States, including: Vitaly Naumkin, director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Petr Stegny, former Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Mr. Guven Sack, Director of TEPAV; S. Karaosmanoglu, former Turkish ambassador to Iran, A. Kuchins, director of the Eurasian and Russian Programs Fund, Henry Kissinger, and others.
The topics raised during the discussion were grouped into four logical blocks: Politics and security in the Eastern Mediterranean, Iranian nuclear program and other security challenges in the region, the problems of politics and security spheres in Central Asia, Turkey, Russia, and Iran, security policy in the Caucasus and Black Sea region.
2012.06.16-20 On the invitation of the Institute of Oriental Studies the Syrian Presidential Adviser on Political and Information issues, Dr. Buseyny Shaaban unofficialy visited Russia. During the visit, Ms. Shaaban Buseyna met with the Foreign Ministry and the Russian parliamentarians.
2012.06.19 At the Conference Hall of the Institute Dr. B. Shaaban addressed the scientists of the Institute, representatives of NGOs and the Russian media.
The speech was devoted to the assessment of the situation in the Middle East and around Syria. Ms. Shaaban Buseyna answered numerous questions from the audience.
2012.06. 18-19 At the Institute of Oriental Studies, were held the international conference: "Turkey, Russia, Iran: Problems of policy and Security".
2012.06.06 At the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation have been held the hearings on the draft of the project of the international sailing expedition on the Phoenician ships "From the Kremlin to the origins of the world civilizations" in the framework of the International Fund "Ships united nations".
As a result of the hearings, was prepared the final edition of the cooperation address to potential project participants, including the leaders of the state, non-governmental and religious organizations in Russia and abroad. Institute of Oriental Studies at the hearing were represented by Veniamin Popov, S. Kamil, Alexey Sarabiev.
2012.05.25 II International Scientific Conference "Transportation and industrial potential of the Caspian region: the problems and prospects of integration - 2012" were held in the Institute of Oriental Studies.
2012.05.24 The head of the Division of Eastern History of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of History Dmitry Vasiliev was formally elected as a Fellow of the Hungarian Orientalist Choma Baron de Koros.
2012.05. 23-24 In the Oriental Studies Institute by the Centre for Indian Studies of the Institute was organized the first conference in the framework of the research project «India: perspectives of modern development»: «Domestic, regional and global issues». During the first day of the plenary session the director of the Institute have Vitaly Naumkin, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India to Russia AjaiMalhotra, Deputy Director of the Second Asian Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry ZA Husnitdinov, the Head of the Institute Indian sector Tatiana Shaumyan,and Ph.D. Felix Yurlov made short speeches.
The total 40 papers and reports were red out.
The conference brought together researchers, teachers, postgraduate students and graduates of different Institutes and universities: ISAA MSU, MGIMO (University),IMEMO, State Humanitarian University, School of Economics, State University of Tomsk and Altai State Pedagogical Academy and Professor University, Jawaharlal Nehru (Delhi) DK Mishra.
2012.05.23 At a meeting of the Academic Council of the IVRAN took place the awarding by Krachkovsky medal of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of China in the Russian Federation, Mr. Li Hui and the leading Russian diplomat who spent many years in the Middle East, the Advisor to the Chairman of Vnesheconombank A. Aksenenok.
2012.05.21 The sector of Kurdish and regional problems of the Center for Middle East held a round table discussion on "The Kurdish issue in the light of the events in Syria and Iran." It was attended by all members of the sector, as well as political scientists (V.Makarenko), representatives of the Moscow institutes and organizations - S. Ivanov (IMEMO), A. Areshev (Strategic Culture Foundation), E.L.Zhigun (Institute of the Middle East), as well as Mr. B.Hoshavi - representative of Iraqi Kurdistan, the KDP in Russia and the CIS, M.Sino, representative of Syrian Kurds in Moscow, etc.
After a brief introduction, deputy head of the sector O.Zhigalinoy started a hard discussion on the proposed topics, with the participation of all the participants of the round table.

2012.02.05 In the conference hall of the hotel "Metropol" took place the award presentation of the degree of Doctor honoris causa of the Institute of Oriental Studies Chair 66th session of the UN General Assembly Nasir Abd al-Aziz Al-Nasser.
The director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, prof., Vitaly Naumkin in his speech, praised the contribution of the Qatari politician and diplomat in the establishment of peace and international security.
In the speech at the ceremony, Mr. Nasir Abd al-Aziz Al-Nasser stressed the role of the Institute community experts played and continues to play as one of the top political consultants for the Russian government.
The guests of the awarding ceremony in "Metropol" were offered buffet and entertainment.
2012.05.01 The Department of External Relations of Oriental Studies and the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church organized a visit of the President of UN General Assembly 66th session Nassir Abdul Aziz Al-Nasser in Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra (Sergiev Posad)
The honored guest arrived in Russia on the invitation of the Institute of Oriental Studies. In Laura he was received by DECR secretary for foreign countries Fr. Sergius Zvonareva, Laura Dean Archimandrite Paul (Krivonogov). During the meal in Moscow Theological Academy and Seminary, Fr.
