This conference was dedicated to the most complex, important, and relevant issues in the history of the Russian Sinology.

The aim of the conference was to discuss these issues together with the prominent Chinese scholars specializing in Russian history and culture, as well as to outline some preliminary results in regard to the anniversary of Oriental Studies in Russia. One of the central topics was the comparison between the past and the present of Sinology.  It was important to examine the impact particular individuals had made on the process of studying China, considering firstly the development of relations between Russia and China and its influence on Sinology as a field of research, education discipline, and a general cultural phenomenon.
