Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, presented the order “Duslik” to Vitaliy Naumkin.

Vitaly Naumkin, the President of the Insitute of Oriental Studies, received an award "for his significant contribution to the implementation of joint scientific and historical-cultural projects."

Mr. Naumkin said, that the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences had been always ready to cooperate with educational institutions of the republic.

In addition, Mr. Naumkin handed over books to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan that had been published by the Institute of Oriental Studies.

V. Naumkin is the author of almost 500 publications on the East history, the countries of Central Asia, the Caucasus.  He is a prominent specialist in Islamic studies, international relations, political science, and other fields. From 1994 to 2009, he had been the Head of the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies, from 2009 - the Director of the Institute. V.Naumkin has been the President of the Institute of Oriental Studies since 2015.
