The Institute of Oriental Studies and the National Central Library (Taipei) prepared and held a public lecture on November 26th “On the Intellectual History of China Studies: Colonialism, Religion, and Its Post-Chinese Consequences”.

The lecture was held in an online format, within the framework of the lecture hall “Taiwan Lectures on Chinese Studies”. Shi Chi-yu, the honored Professor of the National Taiwan University and renowned scientist, delivered the lecture. Professor Shi is also the initiator and informal academic leader of the global project "Oral History - the Epistemology of China Studies", that covers currently about 45 countries and regions of the world.

V.TS. Golovachev and M.E. Kuznetsova-Fetisova were the organizers and moderators from the Institute of Oriental Studies. The event was attended by more than 70 listeners from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Vladivostok. 

The National Central Library signed a partnership agreement with the Institute of Oriental Studies in the year 2012. Within the framework of the agreement the parties have been conducting joint scientific and educational activities for many years: they have been holding public lectures, exchanging new printed publications, using open electronic databases with digital historical archives, and other materials.



The National Central Library donated the Institute of Oriental Studies "The Chinese Cabinet" in the year 2012. “The Chinese Cabinet” possesses the synological literature in the amount of more than 500 volumes, that is replenished annually with new editions.

Many employees of the Institute of Oriental Studies traveled to Taiwan for a period of 3 to 12 months to work with the help of the annual scientific grants of the Center of Sinological Research of the NCL for foreign scientists in the field of sinology.
