4th Conference "Historical, Cultural, Interethnic, Religious, and Political Ties of Crimea with the Mediterranean Region and the Countries of the East"

 
The conference was organized by the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve "Chersonesos Tavricheskiy", as well as the Sevastopol State University on the basis of the Sevastopol University and the Chersonesos Museum-Reserve.

The conference was held within the framework of the project on the history of the cultural and national diversity of Crimea. The choice of the theme arose from the fact that the Crimea in antiquity and the Middle Ages had been a meeting place for Western and Eastern civilizations. The cultural and national diversity of Crimea was based on close interwining of religions, customs, and traditions of the peoples who inhabited the peninsula for centuries.

More than 150 researchers from 47 institutions took part in the conference. Among them were the representatives of academic institutions, research centers, higher educational institutions, museums of Russia, Armenia, Turkey, Great Britain, Switzerland, Romania, Abkhazia, and South Korea. The scientists discussed the latest research data on history, archaeology, and political situation of the region and its contacts with the countries of the Middle East.

103 reports were announced at the conference, 8 sections worked, including in the mode of skype reports. The conference program included a discussion section related to the problems of social analysis of crisis processes in modern society. A special day (October the 8th) was devoted to the problems of the Crimea and the Black Sea region archaeology.

Romanova N.G., the Scientific Work Deputy Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, made a presentation on the topic "Crimean Scientific Research of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences."
