Online Workshop "Saudi Arabia - Russia: Oil Interaction"
On June 24, 2020, an online seminar "Saudi Arabia - Russia: Oil Interaction" was held dedicated to the cooperation of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Russia in the oil sector.
The event was organized by the Center of Arab and Islamic Studies (the Institute of Oriental Studies) and the Faculty of Oriental Studies of GAUGN (the Institute of Oriental Studies) in terms of the new project The MIDDLE EAST CLUB FWP MSU.
Dr. Omar Al-Ubaidli, the Associate Professor of George Mason University (USA), the director of the Center of Economic and Energy Research and Derasat Scientific Research Center in Bahrain, gave a speech as an invited guest.
During the following discussion these issues were raised: the role of energy factor in Russia-Saudi relations, the internal political situation in the KSA, the external factors influence on the political situation in the region and the role of individual regional and global players in Saudi-Russia oil interaсtion.
More than 45 people took part in the event, among them - V.V. Naumkin, Academician, the Scientific President of the Institute of Oriental Studies, V.A. Kuznetsov, the Head of the Center of Arab and Islamic Studies of the Institute of Oriental Studies, K.M. Truevtsev, A.B. Podcerob, S.E. Babkin, and V.I. Bartenev, S.Yu. Babenkova, research scientists of the Institute of Oriental Studies, D.A. Maryasis, the Head of the Department of Israel and Jewish Communities Study of the Institute of Oriental Studies, A.V. Chuprygin, the Senior Lecturer of the Oriental Studies School of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, and others.
Students engaged in the Middle Eastern studies were interested greatly in the seminar.
