A solemn meeting was held in the Academic Council Hall of the Institute of Oriental Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences) on April the 7th, 2021.

The event was dedicated to the handover of A.I. Denisov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the PRC, to A.I. Kobzev, the Head of the Department of China of the Institute, the Memorial Cup and certificate of awarding the PRC National Prize for a special contribution to Chinese literature (中华 图书 特殊 贡献 ). The prize was established by the PRC Government in 2005. It is awarded to foreign translators, writers, and publishers for popularizing Chinese literature and developing cultural contacts with other countries.

The 14th PRC National Award ceremony itself was held on December the 18th, 2020 in Beijing by the State Press and Press Administration of the PRC (中 人民 华 国家 新闻出կ / National Press and Publication Administration). The event was held at the Diaoyutai government residence. 

A.I. Kobzev was absent at that ceremony due to quarantine restrictions. He was represented by A.I. Denisov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the PRC. 

A.K. Alikberov, the Director of the Institute, and V.V. Naumkin, the President of the Institute, V.Ts. Golovatchev, the Deputy Director of the Institute for Science, and A.V. Vinogradov, the Head of the Political Studies and Forecasts Center of the Institute of the Far-East, made speeches during the solemn ceremony of the PRC national prize handover in addition to A.I. Kobzev and A.I. Denisov.

In response the Institute of Oriental Studies staff presented to A.I. Denisov books newly published by China Department researchers. Another gift was a bust of P.I. Kafarov, an outstanding sinologist (Archimandrite Pallady, 1817-1878). The bust was made by the Palladium Charitable Foundation from Kazan.
