Researchers of the Institute Welcomed General Tariq Muhammad Abdallah Salih

 
General Tariq Muhammad Abdullah Salih, the Head of the Yemeni National Resistance and the Head of the Political Bureau, met with the researchers of the Institute of Oriental Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences) on Thursday, the 10th of June, 2021.

The following officials accompanied the general at the meeting as well: Nasser Badjil, the member of the Political Bureau and the House of Representatives, Abd-al-Jaber al-Zahzur, the Commander of the Red Sea Coast Guard Sector, and other persons.

These issues were discussed at the meeting: the conflict in Yemen, the parties involved in the clash, as well as the prospects for its settlement. During the discussion the participation role of external actors was touched upon, such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Turkey.  General Tariq Muhammad Abdullah Salih appreciated highly the importance of Russia's mediation efforts.

Mr. Salih noted the key role of the Russian Federation in the Middle East, referring to Moscow's experience in resolving the Syrian crisis. He expressed gratitude to the diplomatic corps of the Russian Embassy in Sana'a and to Russian President Vladimir Putin particularly.

Then the meeting participants discussed the economic and humanitarian situation in Yemen. Special attention was paid to the problems of infrastructure, healthcare, and the electricity shortage in the country.

Answering the question on the prospects for the introduction of alternative energy sources technologies, General Salih marked that all the possibilities for the construction of such sources existed in Yemen, but such projects required political and economic stability in the country.
