13th Congress of Orientalists "Oriental Archives and Archive Science in the Modern World: Issues and Prospects"
The 13th Congress of Orientalists was successfully held in the city of Elista, Republic of Kalmykia, from the 5th till the 8th of October 2021. The title of the congress was "Oriental Archives and Archival Science in the Modern World: Issues and Prospects".
The event was organized by the following organizations: Kalmyk Scientific Center (the Russian Academy of Sciences), the Institute of Oriental Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences), the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Complex Issues of Oriental Studies, the Government of Kalmykia Republic, the Department of Historical and Philological Sciences (the Russian Academy of Sciences), Orientalists Society of Russia.
There were 5 sections at the congress, the number of participants was approximately 100 people. Among the conference moderators were N.N. Kradin and S.V. Mironenko, Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, A.K. Alikberov, Doctor of History, U.B. Ochirov, Doctor of History, D.N. Muzraeva, Doctor of History, Ph.D. Khaninova R.M., Ph.D. A.V. Kostyrkin.
V.V. Naumkin, the Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, welcomed the participants with an opening speech.
A.K. Alikberov, the Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, chaired the plenary session. He made a plenary report on the topic: "Digital Perspectives of Archival Oriental Studies."
The meeting of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on complex issues of oriental studies took place on October the 6th, after the plenary meeting.
After the end of the congress work, the delegates decided by common consent to elect N.N. Kradin, the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the President of Orientalists Society and to hold the next orientalists congress in three years in Vladivostok.
The congress took a resolution on future scientific archival work.
