The agreement signed this summer consolidated the results of long-term cooperation between the Institute of Oriental Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences) and the Sevastopol State University.

The creation of the university-academic consortium "Russia in the Large Mediterranean" played an important role in the victory of Sevastopol State University in the competition "Priority 2030" of the Education and Science Ministry in the field "Territorial and Sectoral Leadership". The consortium included: Sevastopol State University, the Institute of Oriental Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences), the Institute of Europe (the Russian Academy of Sciences), the Institute of Slavic Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences), Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences(the Russian Academy of Sciences), the Institute of Archeology of Crimea (the Russian Academy of Sciences) and the State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve "Tauric Chersonesos".

The agreement signed this summer consolidated the results of the years-long cooperation between the Institute of Oriental Studies and the Sevastopol State University, implemented in the basic department creation of the Institute of Oriental Studies "The Oriental Studies" in the creation of numerous joint scientific and educational projects. All these activities gave a dynamic impetus to the future promising projects development. The program of organizations cooperation for the coming years provides for an extensive plan implementation of research and organizational activities, such as:

carrying out complex archaeological, underwater-archaeological, ethnographic and historical-geographical research in the countries of the Large Mediterranean;

increasing the research competencies of the teaching staff within the framework of joint expeditionary activities;

bringing the Russian students, historians and orientalists, to a new qualitative level of practical training;

organization of the annual international scientific conference "Historical, Cultural, Interethnic, Religious, and Political Relations of Crimea with the Mediterranean Region and the Countries of the East", that included the Package of Measures of the Russian Federation Government;

establishment and promotion of the open academic journal "Digital Orientalia";

creation of the Digital Expert and Reference System of Historical Knowledge "Great Mediterranean";

provision of a unified information library and bibliographical system;

creation of 3D models and project development for a three-dimensional virtual reconstruction of ancient and medieval cities and other significant historical and archaeological sites of the Large Mediterranean region.

Expansion of the consortium's activities and the inclusion of Sevastopol State University among the winners of the program “Priority 2030” that creates real conditions for the joint scientific projects implementation of international standard.
