The 42nd Scientific Conference "The South Pacific Region in the Past and Present: History, Economics, Politics, and Culture"
The 42nd scientific inter-institutional conference "The South Pacific Region in the Past and Present: History, Economics, Politics, and Culture" was held on the 10th of November 2021. The event was organized by the Center of Southeast Asia, Australia and Oceania of the Institute of Oriental Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences). The conference was conducted online.
The conference moderators were the following people:
D.S.Panarina, senior researcher of the Center for South-East Asia, Australia and Oceania of the Institute of Oriental Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences);
E.M. Astafieva, the senior researcher, the scientific secretary of the Center of Southeast Asia, Australia and Oceania of the Institute of Oriental Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences), the Executive Director of the Researchers Association of the South Pacific Region.
The conference was attended by experts in the field of studying the issues of the South Pacific region from New Zealand, the Institute of Oriental Studies, the Ural Federal University, Saratov National Research State University named after N.G. Chernyshevsky, the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the Institute of History, Archeology, and Ethnography of the Peoples of the Far East of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Irkutsk State University, Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University named after V.P. Astafiev, Russian State University for the Humanities, Federal State University (Uzbekistan), St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg State Institute of Culture.
14 reports were read at the conference, among them 6 reports were presented in absentia.
