"International Humanitarian Cooperation: Directions, Issues, Prospects, Pandemia Impact"

 
The Institute of Oriental Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences) hosted the all-Russian scientific and practical conference "International Humanitarian Cooperation: Directions, Issues, Prospects, Pandemia Impact" on the 24th of March, 2022.

The event was organized by the Study Center of Southeast Asia, Australia, and Oceania of the Institute of Oriental Studies and the Scientific Group "Humanitarian Cooperation Among Russia and Post-Soviet Central Asia Countries: Institutions, Content, Social Efficiency Assessment” Ural Federal University (Yekaterinburg).

The conference was held in a hybrid format. The majority of speakers were remotely connected via video link. 

The first discussion panel was called "Humanitarian Cooperation in the Eurasian Space". At this panel the following topics were discussed: the paradiplomacy possibilities in the Eurasian space, the activities of Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University and the Russian-Turkmen School named after. Magtymguly Fragi, as well as cooperation issues and prospects among Russia and the Central Asian countries in the field of tourism within the framework of the CIS.

During the second discussion panel "The Pandemic Impact on International Humanitarian Cooperation Processes" the reports were presented on the interstate cooperation role in solving immigrants problems in the context of the Russians stay in the Southeast Asia during the pandemic, on the features and mechanisms for conducting online internships at a medical university under the COVID-19 conditions, and the issue of sports in world politics during the pandemic.

The third discussion panel "International Humanitarian Relations Development: the Russian and Foreign Experience" was opened with a report on the personality role in the humanitarian cooperation development among Russia and the countries of the South Seas. The presentations also outlined the implementation fundamentals of the EU cultural policy, touched upon the humanitarian cooperation among Russia, the Philippines, and Laos and the Dialogue Partnership contribution as a Factor of Stability and Integration Project to the humanitarian cooperation of Russia and the Southeast Asia, as well as India  humanitarian cooperation as a "soft power" instrument in Central Asia. In this section, the experience of interregional Russian-Chinese humanitarian cooperation was analyzed, as well as the humanitarian cooperation of the Amur Region of Russian Federation and the Chinese province of Heilongjiang. The final report was devoted to foreign approaches to the international humanitarian cooperation implementation.
