Forum Forum "Global Summit - 2022"

 
A.V. Vorontsov , the Head of Korea and Mongolia Department of the Institute of Oriental Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences), made a presentation on the 11th of February this year at the major international Forum "Global Summit - 2022".

This Forum was held in Seoul on the 11th-13th of February, 2022 in a combined online/offline format under the title "For Peace on the Korean Peninsula''. The event ended with a new call for peace in Korea.

The 2022 World Summit was organized by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), Hak Ja Han Moon, the UPF President, and the Royal Government of Cambodia. The Summit was co-chaired by Hun Sen, Cambodian Prime Minister and Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary General.

The Summit was attended by representatives of about 160 countries, including 157 countries that have diplomatic relations with one or both of the Korean states. During the Forum work many current and former heads of state gave speeches, as well as high-ranking leaders. In total, about 85 world leaders from 70 countries spoke at the Summit in person or via video link.

Speakers included: Donald Trump, Former US President; Shinzo Abe, Japanese Prime Minister; Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State; Jose Manuel Barroso, European Commission President; Mike Pence, US Vice President; Hun Sen, Cambodian Prime Minister; Richard Cheney, Vice President of the United States (2001-2009); Dan Quayle, US Vice President (1989-1993); Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada (2006-2015); Romano Prodi, Prime Minister of Italy (2006-2008) and the President of the European Commission (1999-2004); Dominique de Villepin, Prime Minister of France (2005-2007); Jose Maria Aznar, Prime Minister of Spain (1996-2004), and many others.

About 3,500 networks around the world broadcasted the Summit events.

Dr. Alexander Vorontsov, the Head of the Department of Korea and Mongolia (the Institute of Oriental Studies), presented to the Summit participants his vision of the Russian approach to the Korean Peninsula unification issue.
