CAIS Researchers took part in the International Academic and Educational Conference “20th Faizkhanov Readings”

 
On December 10-13, 2023, the International Academic and Educational Conference “20th Faizkhanov Readings” was held in Moscow. The event was organized by the Muslim Spiritual Administration of the Russian Federation, Moscow Islamic Institute, Center of Islamic Studies at the Saint Petersburg State University and Institute of Oriental Studies RAS.

The conference attracted a number of Russian and foreign clerics, politicians, scholars, experts in cultural and media issues.

Several representatives of the Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography, Daghestan Federal Research Centre RAS took part in the event, including the Head of the Institute Dr. Ramazan Abdulmajidov, Leading Research Fellows Dr. Shamil Shikhaliev and Dr. Amir Navruzov, and Senior Research Fellow Dr. Shahban Khalizov.

The Institute of Oriental Studies was represented by Prof. Boris Dolgov, Leading Research Fellow at CAIS, who presented a paper “Ideas of Jadidism in Russian Muslim Social Thought of the Early 20th Century”; Dr. Islam Zaripov, Senior Research Fellow at CAIS (“Jalalain vs Itkan: the Issue of Implementing al-Wujuh wa al-Naza’ir Method of Quranic Studies to Comments by Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti (1445-1505)”) and Dr. Vladimir Bobrovnikov, Leading Research Fellow at the Central Eurasia Research Center, who moderated the archaeography section and presented a paper “Muslim Diplomatics of Qadi and People’s Courts in Daghestan, 18th – Early 20th Centuries: Typology and Dynamics of Change”.
